The short version
- Your data is yours. Student records belong to you (or your district). Full export is always available. We never sell data, never advertise, and never train AI models on your students' information.
- Offline-first by design. Therapy data lives on your device and works with zero connectivity. Cloud backups are stored encrypted in Microsoft Azure data centers in the United States.
- Recording consent is enforced in software. Audio of a student can only be captured when you've marked parental consent on that student's profile — the controls don't exist otherwise.
- AI with guardrails. AI features run on Microsoft Azure under Microsoft's healthcare-grade agreements. Content generation sends targets and levels — never a child's identity. Voice clips are generated once and stored on your account, not shared.
- Accounts & access. Passwords are hashed with industry-standard key stretching; sessions use short-lived rotating tokens; parent accounts can only ever see their own child.
For schools (FERPA)
SLP UnMute operates as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA when serving districts.
We provide a Data Privacy Agreement modeled on the Student Data Privacy Consortium's national template, honor
parent access and deletion rights, and delete district data on request at termination.
